Considerations
This section contains some important points to note when using the
automatic IP configuration feature.
The dynamic nature of automatically configured IP information means
that a Switch may change its IP address whilst in use.
Event Log Entries
and Traps
An event log will be generated and an SNMP trap will be sent if any of
the following changes occur in the IP configuration:
■ IP address configuration is changed manually
■ IP address changes from Auto-IP to DHCP IP configuration
■ DHCP negotiates a change in the IP configuration from Auto-IP
■ BOOTP negotiates a change in the IP configuration
