1 Backup Battery Replacement
This document shows how to replace a backup battery in a DFS 700. The backup battery
should be replaced routinely every 12 months to ensure continuity of data collection and DFS
parameter settings.
(1) Remove both grey covers on the rear of the DFS 700 door.
(2) Ensure that battery / 12V power from transformer box is still connected to the sign and
the signs power switch is turned off.
(3) Carefullly remove the battery from its spring clip, being careful not to bend the clip back
too far and repalce with the new battery. Ensure that the battery is held in place by the
clip and is not loose. (Figure 1).

(4) Replace the grey covers as necessary to the rear of the door unit.
There is a slight risk of a short circuit occurring if the battery is accidentally dropped
while being replaced. Should this happen damage may occur to the circuitry.
To avoid these risks please take care when replacing the battery. Do not let the battery
drop onto the open soldering contacts below the battery housing or come into contact
with any other soldering joints.
Please dispose of the used battery in accordance with your local government laws and
regulations. Used batteries can be returned to the distributor or deposited in suitable
public waste collection facilities.
Do not dispose of the battery in normal domestic waste.
