DANGER
This manual provides information for the safe operation of the HiPerGuard. It does NOT
provide installation, commissioning, or service information. For such information, refer
to the appropriate document.
C AU TI ON – Trained operators
All operations on the HiPerGuard shall only be carried out by a trained operator familiar
with the contents of this manual. Hazardous conditions could arise from incorrect
adjustment.
DA NG ER – Hazardous voltages
An Operator shall not open doors or panels marked as containing hazardous voltages.
Many parts in this product, including printed circuit boards operate at lethal high
voltages. Stored energy components such as batteries and capacitors can hold this
voltage even after the opening of isolation switches.
DO NOT TOUCH components or connections that may have voltage present.
DA NG ER – High voltages
Lethal high voltages are present inside the MVM and Medium Voltage Switchgear
enclosures under normal operation or fault conditions. Do not remove any panels or
guards. This may only be done by trained technical personnel after following the
stipulated isolation, grounding and lock-out procedures.
DO NOT TOUCH components or connections that have voltage present.
DA NG ER – Stored charge
Stored charge is present after the device is switched off. When the HiPerGuard is
powered down, lethal voltages will remain in the energy storage elements and the
complete HiPerGuard MV UPS should be considered live. To remove this hazard, energy
storage will need to be isolated and locked off, and filter capacitors discharged.
This may only be done by trained technical personnel while following the stipulated
isolation, grounding and lockout procedures.
DA N G E R – Protective covers
Normal operation of this product requires all protective covers to be in place and all
doors closed and secured.
DA NG ER – Personal Protective Equipment
Ensure safety glasses and other appropriate PPE are worn while working if any part of
the unit could be energized. Observe site requirements for PPE while operating this
equipment.
