6. External power and control connections
Overview
The following sections provide a general overview of the power and control connections. For detailed
description, cable sizes, recommended torque, and information about installation requirements, please
refer to the Installation Manual and project-specific documents.
6.1. Overview of external connections
The HiPerGuard MV UPS has various control and power connections terminated at different locations.
Medium voltage AC power connections are made at the MVM enclosure.
Protective earth and DC power connections are made at the DCT enclosure.
Customer connections for hard-wired and Ethernet communications interfaces for MV UPS status and
control reside at the APS enclosure. The APS also has internal network and fiber optic ports for remote
I/O modules used for generator, Power Exchanger interface, energy storage and switchgear interfaces.
External auxiliary power supply connections are made at the APS enclosure as well.
6.2. Medium voltage connections to MVM enclosure
The medium voltage input and output cables coming from the switchgear are connected to the MV UPS
on the top of the MVM enclosure. There is a removable cable gland plate available on the top of the
enclosure to accommodate the cables and avoid the ingress of extraneous objects. The opening and the
input and output terminals are located on the rear side of the MVM. On the opposite side, there is a
removable cable gland plate destined for the optional connection to the site midpoint.
