6.4.4. Digital inputs
The HiPerGuard MV UPS has multiple digital inputs available for external control. Emergency Power Off
(EPO), start, stop, and reset functions are accessible through terminal blocks located in the APS
enclosure.
C AU T I ON : Please note that the voltage
level of all digital inputs is 24 Vdc. The voltage is
generated internally and is available through the terminal blocks located in the APS
enclosure. Connecting different voltage levels or voltages from external sources can
damage the equipment or lead to
an unexpected operation.
6.4.4.1. Emergency Power Off (EPO)
System Emergency Power Off (EPO) is an active low digital input that inhibits the MV UPS operation.
If the EPO is asserted, the MV UPS will attempt to transfer the load to bypass. If this happens during
Independent mode, the system will attempt to close the bypass, transfer the load onto the grid, disable
the inverters and open the input and output switches. Transfer to utility supply may depend on the
availability of that supply.
It is always recommended to start/stop the MV UPS via the GDM or its digital inputs or via a Modbus
TCP communication which include additional checks and warnings to prevent inadvertent interruption
of the load voltage.
The site EPO can be connected to the MV UPS EPO terminals located on X11 Terminal block in the APS
enclosure.
These terminals shall be interfaced from and to the site EPO circuit via voltage free switching contacts.
If a site EPO switch is not available, the terminals must be linked out. By default, terminals X11.1 and
X11.2 in the APS enclosure are fitted with a terminal jumper link from the factory.
DA NG ER : Please note that the EPO input is not intended to be used as an Emergency
Stop for machine safety purposes. Even when the EPO switches are opened, residual
voltages may be present, and the inobservance of safety procedures can lead to injuries
or
death.
