Abbreviation/Term Meaning
Island state
A state where the MV UPS decided to go into independent mode by opening
the input circuit breaker and supplying the load through the energy storage.
Line voltage RMS line to line voltage of the main power supply of the MV UPS input.
LV Low Voltage. Voltage level up to 1000 Vac or 1500 Vdc.
MV Medium Voltage. Voltage level between 1 kVac and 35 kVac.
MVM
Medium Voltage Magnetics. The MVM consists of the coupling transformer
and the isolating line reactor.
PCB Printed Circuit Board
PCC
Point of Common Coupling. The PCC is the point in the electrical power
supply system where the responsibility of the utility changes to the
industrial customer. The utility is responsible for providing clean voltage
and current with respect to harmonic distortion up to the PCC.
The industrial customer is responsible not to distort voltage and current by
its electrical systems
PCM
Power Conditioning Mode. When operating on this mode, the MV UPS
continuously conditions the load voltage.
PCM_Active state
A state where the grid input voltage is out of threshold and the MV UPS is
keeping the load voltage within specified limits while monitoring to decide
whether to disconnect from the grid.
PCM_Normal state
A state where the grid input voltage is within specified limits and the MV
UPS continuously conditions the load voltage to the system nominal voltage
value while the utility is sup-plying the load active power requirements.
PCS120
Power Conversion System 120. The PCS120 is the product platform for the
ABB power conditioning products.
PCU
Power Conversion Unit. The PCU consists of the LV enclosures of the
HiPerGuard MV UPS unit.
PE120-N
Platform Enclosure 120. PE120 is the enclosure that contains several PCS120
modules. The product has three enclosures designated as PE120-1, PE120-2
& PE120-3.
PEBB Power Electronic Building Block
PE-E Protective Earth
PE-I Inverter Earth
Resynchronizing state
A state where the MV UPS resynchronize to the grid input voltage and
commands the input circuit breaker to close when the grid voltage is back
and stable for reconnection.
RTD
Resistance Temperature Detector. The RTD is a temperature sensor where
the change in electrical resistance is used to measure the temperature.
