7.1.8.1. List of Power Quality events
ID Event Description
I5.122 Shallow event detected
Monitors input voltage for shallow magnitude sag /
swell events. Shallow event defined as between 15 and
50% deviation from nominal.
I5.123 Deep event detected
Monitors input voltage for deep magnitude sag / swell
events. Deep event defined as exceeding 50% deviation
from nominal.
I5.124 Phase jump detected
Monitors input voltage for phase angle jump events.
Jump event defined if phase angle jumps by more than
60°.
I5.125 Frequency error detected
Monitors input voltage for frequency error events.
Frequency error defined if frequency deviates by more
than 1Hz from nominal.

7.1.9. Energy storage test mode
The HiPerGuard MV UPS typically uses Lithium-Ion energy storage that has associated Battery
management System (BMS) which monitor battery state-of-health. The MV UPS has incorporated an
energy storage test mode which when used in conjunction with the BMS facilitates the operator to make
repeatable discharge tests for battery capacity trending and evaluation. The MV UPS shall be in Power
Conditioning Mode of operation to enable energy storage test mode. The user shall set test execution
parameters which are the depth, power, and duration of the test discharge to be undertaken. BMS
communication should be operational for the test to be executed. Once the user proceeds to execute
the test, the MV UPS control system performs the discharge and logs a time stamped set of values
which include the battery voltages and SoC at the start and end of the test as well as the discharge
power and duration. Once initiated, the test shall be aborted if a power quality event occurs, or a battery
or UPS fault is detected. As with any energy storage discharge event, there is a likely hood of load
protection to be compromised if a fault event arises, hence it is advisable that the energy storage test
be not performed when critical power protection is anticipated.
