Creating Signals
Three different waveforms are shown in Figure 30, and each waveform has the same
value for the burst ramp. The burst ramp, tr, includes the power ramp and power
settling times. The sync to packet delay, td, is different for each of the waveforms:
• Figure 30 (a) td = 0
• Figure 30 (b) td = + value
• Figure 30 (c) td = - value
The external frame clock repeats every 1250 ms. Any additional triggers that are received
during the waveform playback time are ignored by the ESG until after the waveform has
played back completely.
When each waveform is initially triggered from an external source, there is a 1.5 frame
delay. The ESG ext delay time is the amount of delay time, after the ESG receives the
trigger signal, before the waveform begins playing back. This delay time is computed
as follows:
Ext Delay Time = 1.5* Frame Length+Sync to Packet Delay – Burst Ramp.
The frame lengths are as follows:
• DH1 = 1250 ms
• DH3 = 3750 ms
• DH5 = 6250 ms
Note: Selecting the External Frame Sync will disable Omit Poll Period, if Omit Poll
Period is enabled. Once the External Frame Sync is de-selected, the Omit Poll Period
will become re-enabled.
