Cleaning liquids
Liquid Description
AlfaCaus A st rong alkaline liquid, for removing paint, fat, oil and
biolog ical deposits.
AlfaPhos An acid clean ing liquid for removing metallic oxides, rust,
lime and o ther inorganic scale. Contains repassivation
inhibitor
AlfaNeutra A strong alkaline liquid for neutralization of AlfaPhos b efore
drainage.
Alfa P-Neutra For neutralizat ion of Alfa P-Scale.
Alfa P-Scale An acidic powder cleaner for the rem oval of primary
carbonate scale but also other inorganic scale.
AlfaDescalent A non-hazardous acidic cleaning agent for the removal of
inorganic scale.
AlfaDegreaser A non-hazardous cleaning agent for the removal of oil,
grease or wax deposits. Also prevents foaming when using
Alpacon Descaler.
AlfaAdd AlfaAdd is a neutral c leaning strengthener designed to be
used wit h AlfaPhos, AlfaCaus and Alfa P-Scale. 0.5–1
vol% is added to the total diluted cleaning solution to
provide better c leaning results on oily and fatty surfaces
and where biolo gical growth occurs. AlfaAdd also r educes
any foaming.
If CIP c annot be done, cleaning must b e done manually. Refer to “Manual cleanin g of opened
units” on pag e 24.
Chlorine as a growth inhibitor
Chlorine, commonly used as a growth inhibit or in cooling water systems , reduces the corrosion
resistance of stainless steels ( including high alloys like Alloy 254).
Chlorine weakens the protection layer of these steels making them mo re susceptible to corr osion
attack s then th ey otherwise would be. It is a matt
er of time of exposure and concentration.
In all cases where the chlo rination of non-titanium equipment ca nnot be avoided, your local
representative must be consulted.
Water of more than 330 ppm Cl ions may not be used i n the preparation of clean ing solutions.
Caution!
Ensure that the handling of resid uals after using chlorines follow local envionmental
regulations.
