liquidwhichappearinthenearouterareaofthepumphavetobeinspectedondanger
potential,ifnecessarysafetymeasuresaretobetaken.
Chemicalandbiologicalreactionsintheproductchamberofthepump(mixtureofdifferent
substances)andthefreezingoftheliquidhaveto
beavoided.
Beforestartingtodisassemblethepump,takecarethatthepumphasbeenemptiedandrinsed.
Bothportspipingaretobeclosedanddrainedifapplicable.Furtherthepumphastobecutofffrom
anyenergyontheairandproductside.Ifthepumpis
beingdeportedfromtheplant,areference
aboutthedeliveredliquidhastobeattached.AtemplateisavailableontheAlmatecwebsite.
Pleaserespecttherelevantadditionalsecurityadvices,ifthepumphasbeenusedforaggressive,
dangerousortoxicliquids(e.g.suitableprotectiveequipmentaccordingtothe
safetydatasheetof
theliquid).Incaseofadiaphragmrupture,itispossiblethatresiduesoftheliquidremainbehindthe
diaphragms,intheareaoftheaircontrolsystemandatthemuffler,despiteofseveralflushing
processes.Hence,appropriatesafetyequipmentaccordingtothesafetydatasheet
oftheliquidis
indispensable.
Beforeputtingthepumpbackintooperation,thetightnessofthepumphastobechecked.
Air‐operateddiaphragmpumpscanleadtobruiseswhenlifting,sinkingorassemblingthem.
Appropriateaccessoriesandsafetyequipmentsaretobeused.Bigandheavymodules
havetofixed
andsecuredtoliftinggearswhentransporting/replacingthem.
Especiallywhendelivercriticalliquids,wearparts,likediaphragms,shouldbereplacedwithina
preventivemaintenance.
Theuseofnon‐originalALMATECsparepartsandstructuralchangesleadtothelapseofthe
warrantyimmediately.Whenoperatingsuch
apump,damagesofpropertiesand/orpersonscannot
beexcluded.
Theoperationofthepumpwithnitrogenasdrivinggasispossible.Inclosedroomssufficient
ventilationmustbeprovided.
Possibleelectricalconnections(e.g.whenusingoptionalequipmentwithcontrollers)maybe
executedbyaqualifiedpersononly.
Theregulationsoftherespectivemanufacturersaretobe
followed.
Atanyworkarisingithastobemadesurethatnoexplosiveatmospherecanappear.Appropriate
safetyequipmentisrecommended.
Thepumpistestedwithwaterbeforeshipment.Waterresiduesinsidethepumpcannotbe
precluded.Ifthe
liquid,whichiswantedtobeconveyed,potentiallyinteractswithwater,please
consultAlmatec.
Procedureforpumpreturn:Accordingtotherequirementsofour14001‐certification,everyunit
whichissendtoALMATECfordiagnosisormaintenancereasonshastobeaccompaniedbyafilled
outdecontamination‐sheet.Otherwise
aprocessingisnotpossible.Thedecontamination‐sheetis
enclosedtothismanual.Pleasepayattentiontothefurthersafetyregulations.
Usingassubmersiblepump
ConsiderthefollowingadviseswhenusinganE‐Seriespumpasasubmersiblepump:Whenimmersinganair‐
operateddiaphragmpump,itmustgenerallybeensuredthatthewasteairisdeductedabovethefluidlevel
with a pipe or similar. The pump must be located vertically
upright to guarantee proper function. Minute
leakageontheairinletoroutletcanblocktheairvalve.Thepumpmustbedisconnectedfromthepressure
withinthesystem duringstandstill.Whenchoosingthepump type,itmustbetakenintoconsiderationthat
all external parts‐even those non‐wetted
during standard operation‐like covers, shock absorbers,
connections etc. must be resistant to the fluid pumped. Please consider as well that depending on the
material,thepumpmustbeweightdownresp.fixed.
