AUTO-TUNING
THE AUTO-TUNING PROCESS USES TWO SEPARATE VARIABLES THAT
MUST BE SET IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE TEC FROM OVER CURRENT IN
EITHER DIRECTION. DO NOT AUTO-TUNE A TEC OR LOAD BEFORE
SELECTING APPROPRIATE CURRENT LIMITS FOR THE TEC OR LOAD
BEING USED WITH THE TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER. READ BELOW
FOR INFORMATION ON SETTING THESE VARIABLES.
Details
Auto-tuning is a simple procedure that temporarily adjusts the output and measures
the response of the system in order to optimize the response of the controller. While
in Auto-tuning, the display will blink [tune]. When Auto-tuning is complete, it will
automatically change the appropriate PID parameters to give the best control possible.
Note: The Current Limits ([Il`a] and [Il`b]) will not limit the current during
an Auto-tune! Read on.
During an auto-tuning cycle the TEC output will be current limited to the following
variables: “Auto Tune Limit 1” and “Auto Tune Limit 2” ([AtL1] and [ATL2]).
As mentioned earlier, Output 1 is always the cooling output and Output 2 is always the
heating output. Setting these according to the specific TEC (s) being used provides
the highest level of control over the Auto tuning process. You can choose to Auto-tune
the load at any time from the Main Menu by pressing the Advance Key until [`aut]
shows up in the bottom display. See Section 5.0 for “Detailed Parameter
Descriptions”.
