Battery
An
alternator is used to charge the battery. The alternator charging system
normally requires no service other than a periodic checking to ensure that
all exposed wiring and electrical connections
on
the machine are clean and
in good condition.

A fuse protects a machine's electrical system and components from
excessive current and short circuits.
This fuse·is situated on the instrument panel and is 20 amps.
A "blown" fuse usually indicates a short circuit or current overload. Check
all wiring for shorts or other circuit damage before replacing a blown fuse.
Refer to the wiring diagram in this manual and become familiar with the
machine's electrical system before attempting to troubleshoot.

Maintain the electrolyte level above the plates in each cell
by
adding
distilled water as necessary. The best time to add water is
just
prior to
operating the machine, so water will mix with the
sr
.lution. Do not overfill
the battery. Electrolyte solution is corrosive and overfilling can cause
damage to surrounding metal parts.
The battery should
be
maintained at 1.265 specific gravity charge. When
the battery has been out or the machine for servicing, take care to connect
the cables to the battery exactly
as
they were before removal.
For
longest service life, the battery should be kept clean
by
wiping it
off
with a paper towell.
