Why does my Ampcontrol Relay cycle while the start input is held closed?
    • K
      Kimberly BradleyAug 18, 2025
If the Ampcontrol relay cycles while the start input is held closed, it could be due to several reasons: * The relay's MCI input is not closing. Ensure that the main contactor is closing and check the circuit, auxiliary contacts, and wiring. * The relay isn't receiving voltage feedback on all three outlet phases within 800ms of contactor closing. Check the system voltage display as the contactor closes and compare it with the undervoltage threshold. * There may be a continuity issue from the relay through the CCMB – 6.6kV to power conductors. Check continuity from the relay, through the CCMB – 6.6kV to power conductors.

What to do if Ampcontrol HPB Relays trips on MCF on power up?
    • A
      Anthony HillAug 20, 2025
If the Ampcontrol relay trips on MCF (Main Contactor Fail) upon power up, it could be due to: * A main contactor fail condition. Check the main contactor for leakage across terminals or a frozen contactor condition. * A flat or faulty battery. The AA cell installed under the top cover may require replacement. It is recommended that the relay be returned to Ampcontrol for battery replacement and full testing.

Why Ampcontrol Relay will not close with EC fault?
    • C
      christycharlesAug 23, 2025
If the Ampcontrol relay will not close and indicates an EC fault, it is likely due to a faulty pilot circuit (open or high resistance or shorted to earth). Check the pilot circuit. If the issue persists, consider replacing the relay.

How to fix a blank screen on Ampcontrol HPB remote display?
    • W
      William BishopAug 26, 2025
If the Ampcontrol Remote Display shows a blank screen and the HDM LED indicator is off, it could be due to: * Loss of power to the display. Check that there is power to the relay and it is correctly plugged in. The relay supplies 15VDC to the HDM. Also, check the cable between the HDM and the relay. * A faulty display module. Consider replacing the module.

Why Ampcontrol HPB time and date incorrect?
    • P
      Philip WilsonAug 28, 2025
If the time and date on your Ampcontrol relay are incorrect and reset to 1/01/9? on power-up, it is likely due to a low battery. The AA cell installed under the top cover requires replacement. It is recommended that the relay be returned to Ampcontrol for battery replacement and full testing.

What does error #2 mean on Ampcontrol HPB Relays in HTU pilot mode?
    • M
      Michele ChangAug 31, 2025
If Error Indication #2 (level 0, position 1) appears when the Ampcontrol relay is in HTU pilot mode, it indicates that either the HTU-1 Module is not online or the HTU-1 Module’s non-volatile memory has been corrupted. Check that the HTU-1 Module is online (level 3, position 1), indicating a healthy pilot loop. If the HTU-1 Module is online, examine the Group 2 Settings stored in the HTU Settings (level 9). If some settings show ‘???’, reprogram lost settings into the HTU-1 memory.

What to do if Ampcontrol Relays remote display is blank and the HDM LED flashes?
    • D
      Daniel TylerSep 2, 2025
If the Ampcontrol Remote Display shows a blank screen and the HDM LED flashes at 1Hz, it indicates that power to the HDM is healthy, but there is no data. Check the data cable between the relay and the HDM.

What does 'MC Opened' mean on Ampcontrol HPB Relays?
    • C
      Corey RiceSep 4, 2025
If the outlet is off and the log records “MC Opened” on your Ampcontrol relay, it means the outlet was turned off but not by the relay. Check the main contactor coil or control circuit.

What does error #1 mean on Ampcontrol Relays?
    • K
      Kyle ColemanSep 7, 2025
Error indication #1 (level 0, position 1) on your Ampcontrol relay indicates corruption in the Group 1 Settings stored in the relay. Examine the Group 1 Settings (level 8) to check the stored parameters in the non-volatile memory. If one or several settings show ‘???’, reprogram list settings into the memory.

What does [HTU Stop] mean on Ampcontrol HPB?
    • L
      lynchbriannaSep 10, 2025
If the HPB Status page displays [HTU Stop] on your Ampcontrol relay, it means the relay is waiting for the HTU-1 Module’s Stop input to be closed. Ensure the HTU-1 Module’s stop input is closed (through a diode to earth).
