4.2 Prepare the NanoScope Handpiece Kit (Sterile)
1. The physician must handle the NanoScope Handpiece Kit and accessories using
proper sterile technique.
2. Prior to opening the kit, inspect the labeling and packaging.
Ensure the product is not expired.
Ensure the packaging is intact.
If the product is expired or there is a possible loss of sterility, discard the kit and
start with a fresh kit.
3. Open the kit and place the contents onto a sterile field. (The Handpiece Kit tray
may act as a sterile field itself, if space permits.)
Inspect each component of the NanoScope Handpiece Kit and ensure there is
no damage.
4. When instructed on the Console, insert the Handpiece cable into the Console
connector [table 4, item 2] until fully seated. (Note: The Console is not sterile.)

5. When instructed on the Console, calibrate the camera. The calibration cap must
remain installed during calibration.
Once calibration is complete, remove the cap from the endoscope tip and
place it on the sterile field. (IMPORTANT: do not discard the cap until the
procedure is over. The cap can be used to recalibrate, if needed.)
