Engine Oil Level
RT160043
Make sure the engine is not running and the machine is
parked on a level surface when you check the oil level.
NOTE:
If the engine has been running, wait 2 or 3
minutes before you check the oil level.
1. Raise the engine service hood. Remove the dipstick
and wipe with a clean cloth.
2. Push the dipstick completely in and remove.
3. The oil level must be between the UPPER and LOWER
marks on the dipstick.
4. If the oil level is below the LOWER mark, add oil
through the oil filler cap. Raise the oil level to the
UPPER mark. Do not raise the oil level above the
UPPER mark.
5. Install the oil filler cap, if removed
6. Install the dipstick. Lower the engine service hood.
NOTE:
Check the engine oil every 10 hours of operation
or once every day, whichever occurs first.
NOTE:
See Engine Lubrication chart for the engine oil
specifications.
NOTE:
The Oil Alert ® system will automatically stop the
engine before the oil level falls below the safe limit.
However, to avoid the inconvenience of an unexpected
shutdown, always check the engine oil level before
startup.
Engine Oil and Filter Change
Change the engine oil every 100 hours of operation or
every 6 months. Replace the engine oil filter every 200
hours or operation or every year.
If possible, change the oil when the oil is warm. Warm oil
drains quickly and completely.
1. Park the machine on a level surface.
2. Place a suitable container below the engine to catch
the used oil, then remove the filler cap and the drain
bolt.
RT160044
3. Allow the used oil to drain completely, then reinstall
the drain bolt, and tighten it securely.
4. Remove the left side access cover.
RT160045
5. Remove and discard the oil filter.
IMPORTANT:
Use an oil filter socket tool, rather than a
filter strap wrench, to avoid striking and damaging the oil
pressure switch.
6. Clean the gasket seal surface on the filter head with a
clean cloth.
7. Apply a thin layer of clean grease or oil to the gasket
seal of the new oil filter.
IMPORTANT:
DO NOT use a filter strap wrench to
install the new oil filter. An oil filter strap wrench can
cause a leak if the filter is dented.
8. Install the filter. Use your hands to tighten the filter
until the filter seal makes contact with the filter
mounting base. Then use an oil filter socket to
tighten the filter an additional 7/8 turn.
Oil filter tightening torque: 22 Nm (16 lb ft)
9. The engine crankcase capacity is approximately 1.1
litres (1.16 U.S. Quarts) of oil without oil filter
replacement, and 1.4 litres (1.48 U.S. Quarts) of oil
with oil filter replacement.
10. Refill the crankcase with the specified amount of
the recommended oil.
