Answering system settings
Press DIR or CID to scroll and choose among 2, 4, 6 or TOLL SAVER.
Toll saver- the answering system answers a call aer two rings when
you have new messages, and aer four rings when there are no new
messages. This feature allows you to check for new messages and avoid
paying long distance charges if you are calling from out of your local area.
Press MENU/SELECT to conrm your setting. There is a conrmation tone.
NOTE: If you subscribe to a voicemail service oered through your telephone service
provider, see Answering system and voicemail on page 43.
Remote access code
To access your answering system remotely from any touch-
tone telephone, you need to enter a two-digit number (00-
99). Unless you change it, the remote access code is 19.
To change the remote access code:
Follow Steps 1-3 in Number of rings on page 41.
Press DIR or CID to scroll to >REMOTE CODE, then press MENU/SELECT.
Press DIR or CID to select the remote access code, or use the dial pad
keys to enter the correct number (00-99).
Press MENU/SELECT to conrm your setting. There is a conrmation tone.
NOTE: For more details about the remote access feature, refer to Remote access on page 51.
Message alert tone
When the message alert tone is set to ON, and there is at least one new
message, the telephone base beeps every 10 seconds. Unless you change it,
the message alert tone is set to o.
To change the setting:
Follow Steps 1-3 in Number of rings on page 41.
Press DIR or CID to scroll to >MSG ALERT TONE, then
press MENU/SELECT.
Press DIR or CID to choose ON or OFF.
Press MENU/SELECT to conrm your setting. There is a conrmation tone.
NOTES:
The message alert tone beeps only if all the following conditions are met:
– Answering system is on.
– Message alert tone is on.
– There are new messages.
To temporarily turn o the message alert tone, see Temporarily turning o the message
alert tone on page 45.
