Lo cked files appear in the Di sk Directory with an asterisk before
the filename.
When the Lock File operation is specified, the following prompt
will appear.
WHAT FILE TO LOCK?
Ent er the file specification of the file to be lo cked. Filename
match cha
ra cters may be us ed to lo ck multipl e files with a single
file specification.
It is good practice to lock the DO S.SYS and DUP.SYS files.
G. Unlock File
The
Unlock File operation is used to unlock one or more disk
fil
es pr eviously locked with Lock File. When the Unlock File
operation is specified, the following prompt will appear:
WHAT FILE TO UNLOCK?
The file specification of the file to be unlo cked should be
entered.
Fil ename match characters ca n be us ed to spec ify more
than one file.
H. Write
DOS File
The
Write DOS File operation a llow s the user to copy DOS 1.0 or
2.0 o nto a diskette. In DO S version 1.0, the DOS.SYS file is
copied. In DO S version 2.0, the DOS. SYS and DUP. SYS files are
cop ied.
DOS is copied from the comp uter 's memory, not directly from a
diskette
during th e Write DOS Fil e operation.
In DOS 1.0, the following prompt appears when Write DOS File
is specified.
TYPE "Y" TO WRITE NEW DOS FILE
