BV1 starts closing the bypass line over the oil cooling circuit at the lower limit of its temperature
range. At the upper limit of its temperature range, the bypass line is completely closed and all the
oil flows through the oil cooling circuit.
BV2 starts closing the bypass line over the ER heat exchanger (HE) at the lower limit of its
temperature range. At the upper limit of its temperature range, the bypass line is completely
closed and all the oil flows through the main oil cooler (Co).
Bypass valve BV1 starts opening at 71 ˚C (160 ˚F) and is completely open at 85 ˚C (185 ˚F).
Bypass valve BV2 starts opening at 75 ˚C (167 ˚F) and is completely open at 90 ˚C (194 ˚F).
The ER system can be provided with bypass valves on the water side.
When the ball valves are in position (A), as shown on the ER label, the ER unit is integrated in
the water circuit and will recover energy.
When the ball valves are in position (B), the heat exchanger (HE) is bypassed and no energy will
be recovered.
