General information
The Homelink® feature can learn up to thr ee radio
frequency codes for mos t current transmi tters used for
operating gar age doors, estate gates, home or ou tdoor
ligh ting systems, an d other devices.
You m ust firs t pr og ram the Hom eLin tr ans mit te r befo re you can
use the system=> page 140, " Programm ing the HomeLink® tra ns-
mi tter".
In ord er to program the HomeLink® tra nsmitter fo r devices uti lizing
ro lling code, a second person on a ladder who can safe ly reach the
gara g e doo r ope ner moto r is reco mmended. It is also necessa ry to
locate the "learn" button on your garage door opener motor . Refer
t o t he ope rati ng in stru cti on s for the opener, as the loca tion and
color of th is button may vary by manufacturer.
You can st ill use t he or igina l rem ote cont ro l for t he device at any
tim e.
& WARNING
Never use the Homelink'"' transmitter with any garage door
opener that does have not the safety stop and reverse feature as
required by federal safety standards . This includes any garage
door opener model manufactured before April 1, 1982 .
A garage door opener whi ch cannot detect an object , signaling
the door to stop and reverse does not meet current federal safety
standards . Using a garage door opener without these features
increases risk of serious injury or death .

For safety reasons never release the parking brake or start the
engine while anyone is standing in front of the vehicle .
A garage door or an estate gate may sometimes be set
in
motion when the Homelink ® remote control is being
programmed . If the device is repeatedly activated , this can over-
strain motor and damage its electrical components - an over-
heated motor is a fire hazard!
To avoid possible injuries or property damage , please always
make absolutely certain that no persons or objects are located in
the range of motion of any equipment being operated.
