Push th e red I PANIC ] button again to deactivate the
panic f un cti on.
If the vehic le is un locked and no door, the rear lid or the hood is
opened within 60 seconds, the vehicle locks itself again automati -
cal ly. This feature prevents the vehicle from being accidental ly left
unlocked over a long period of time .
It depends on the settings in the radio or in the MMI * whether the
entire vehic le is unlocked or on ly certain doors ~
page 42.
On vehicles with Convenience key*, the selector lever must be in the
P pos ition, otherwise the vehic le cannot be locked .

• In order to make sure the locking function is working, you should
always keep your eye on the veh icle t o make sure it is proper ly
locked .
• Do not use t he remote control if you are inside the car, otherwise
you may unintentionally lock the vehicle, and then you would set off
the anti -theft alarm when you try to star t t he engine or open a door.
In case this happens anyhow, push the unlock button

• Use the panic funct ion only if you are in an emergency
situation. •

The doors and the rear lid can be unlocked and locked
without operating the master key.

The vehicle can be locked and un locked at any door. It depends on
the sett ings in the radio or in the
MMI * whether the entire vehicle is
unlocked or one of the doors ~
page 42. The master key must be
within a range of about 5 feet (1.5 meters) from the appropriate
door or t he rear lid . It makes no difference wheth er the master key
is in your jacket pocket or in your brief case .
