The temperatu re should be set to 72 °F
(22 °C) o r higher . Temperat ure is contro lled
automatically. The maximum amount of a ir
flows mainly from the vents below the wind-
shield.
To defog the rear side windows, the air vents
in the doo r pillars sho uld be open and direct-
ed at the windows .
Manual air recirculation ~
Air recirculation prevents exhaust fumes or
other pollution from entering the vehicle.
Turning on air recirculation
> Press the l=I button ¢ A
Turning off air recirculation
> Press the ~ button agai n, or
> press the IAU T O I button, or
> press t he ~ button.
In the a ir recirculation mode, the air in the
passenger compa rtme nt is recirculated and
filtered to prevent exhaust fumes and other
po llut ion from ent eri ng the veh icle . We rec-
ommend t hat you use the manu a l air recircu -
lation under the following conditions :
- when d riving through tunne ls
- in a traffic jam .
A WARNING
Do not use the air recirculat io n mode for
exte nded per iods of t i me . The windows
could fo g up since no fres h air ca n e nt e r
t he vehicle.
If the windows fog up, press
t he air recircu lation button aga in imme di-
-
ate ly to switch off the air recirculation
function or select defrost.
Rear window defogger ~
The rear window defogger clears the rear win-
dow of condensation .
> Press the OW bu t ton t o t ur n t he rear window
defogger on and off.
The rea r window defogger works on ly when
t he engine is runn ing. The light in t he sw itch
will illumina t e when t he defogger is on.
The rea r window defogg e r will sw itch off au-
tomat ica lly afte r a short t ime. The t ime the
rear window de fogger rema ins o n will va ry de-
pending on t he outside t empera tu re.
At very low outs ide temperatures, the rear
window defogger ca n be sw itched on co nti nu-
ous ly by pushing t he
OW button for more t han
2 seconds . This rema ins stored un t il the ign i-
t ion is switc hed off.
A rear window defogge r t hat was switched on
also remains st ore d for 15 minu t es after t he
ignition is sw itche d off. If the engine is re-
started withi n these 15 m inutes, the rear win-
dow defogger is a lso activated, depending on
outside temperat ure . With a vehicle that is
parked for a short time, the rear window de-
fogger does not need to be manually activat-
ed again .
@ For the sake of the environment
Turn the defogger off when the rear win-
dow is clear. When you save electric ity, you
save fue l.
