Parking brake set
The BRAKE/CCD) war ning/i nd icator light il lumi nates whe n th e parkin g
brake is set:::::,& . The fol lowin g message appears in the disp lay:
Parking brake is applied . If you inadvert ently dr ive off wi th th e
parking bra ke app lied , a buzz er (warn ing ton e) sounds .
& WARNING
• USA models : If both, the BRAKE warning light and the ABS
warning light come on at the same time, the rear wheels could
lock up first under hard braking . Lock-up of the rear wheel brakes
can cause loss of vehicle control and an accident. Have your
vehicle repaired immediately by your authorized Audi dealer or a
qualified workshop . Drive slowly and avoid sudden , hard brake
application.
• Canada models: If both, the brake warning light C@ and the ABS
warning light
8 come on at the same time , the rear wheels could
lock up first under hard brak ing. Lock-up of the rear wheel brakes
can cause loss of vehicle control and an accident. Have your
vehi cle repaired immediately by your authorized Audi dealer or a
qualified work shop. Drive slowly and avoid sudden, hard brake
application
• If the brake warning/indicator light does not go out after a few
seconds and the parking brake released, or lights up wh ile you are
driving, the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir is too low . If you
believe that it is safe to do so, proceed immediately at low speed
to the nearest authorized Audi dealer or qualified workshop and
have the brake system inspected .
• Please be very careful and always keep in mind that after
several brake applications , you will need greater pressure on the
brake pedal to stop your vehicle . Consequently, you must allow for
increased braking distances . Trying to brake as quickly as usual
could lead to an accident. •
Anti-lock brake system
ABS (USA)/ 0 (Canada)
This wa rni ng/i ndic ator light monit ors the ABS and the
electroni c differenti al lock (EDL).
The ABS ligh t w ill come on fo r a few seco nds wh en t he ign itio n is
switched on. The light wil l go out after an automatic check sequence
is completed.
There is a malfunction in the ABS when :
• The wa rn ing/i ndi cat or light do es not illum inate w hen yo u swi tc h
on the ignition .
• The wa rnin g/i ndi cator lig ht does not go out aft er a few seconds .
• The warning/indicator lig ht il luminates whi le driving.
The bra ke system w ill sti ll respon d even wi th out t he assist ance of
the ABS system. See your authorized Audi dealer as soon as
possible to resto re fu ll braking performance. For mor e info rma ti on

The ABS warning light and the brake warning light come on
t og ether . The ABS wil l not wor k and you wi ll not ice a change in
braking response and performance.
Malfunction in the brake system
USA models: If both, the BRAKE warning light and the ABS warning

may be a malfunction in the ABS, and t here may also be a ma lfunc -
t ion in th e br ake syst em it self :::::,& .
Canada models: If both, the brake warn ing lig ht (@ and the ABS
wa rning ligh t 0 come on :::::, page 37 w hen t he parking brake is
released, there may be a malfunct ion in t he ABS, and there may also
be a ma lfunction in the brake system itself :::::,& .
