BRAKE/((])) Brake system
This warning/indicator light illuminates when
the broke fluid level is too low or when there
is a malfunction in the ABS, or when the park -
ing broke is set.
If the - (USA mode ls)/ . (Canada
models) symbol flashes in the display with the
parking brake released, there is a ma lfunction
in the brake system . In addition to the sym -
bol, one of two messages appears in the dis-
play:
Stop vehicle and check brake fl uid level
Stabiliz ation program and ABS fault! See
Owner's manual
... Pull off the road and stop the vehicle .
.,. Obtain professional ass istance.
USA models: if there is a malfunction in the
ABS system, the m!SJ warning/indicator light
illum inates along with the - system
malfunct ion warn ing/ indicator light ¢ & .
Canada models: if there is a malfunction in
the ABS system, the [iJ warning/indicator
light illuminates together with the . brake
system malfunction warning/indicator light

The light 1111 (USA)/ . (Canada) illumi-
nates when the ign it ion is turned on . It goes
out after the engine has been started and the
parking brake is ful ly released . This indicates
that the brake wa rning light is fun ct ion ing
properly .
If the brake warning light does not light up
w hen t he engine is cranking or the parking
brake is appli ed, th ere may be a malfunction
in th e electrical system. In thi s case, contact
your Audi dealer.
If the ABS fai ls, the ABS warning/indicator
light
m:sJ (USA models)/ [iJ (Canada models)
flashes together with the brake system warn-
ing/ indicator light ¢ & .

When the light comes on , an audible warning
signal is also g iven.
Parking brake set
The pa rking brake warning ligh t -·
(Canada models) illuminates when the park-
ing brake is set . In addition, a warning tone
will sound after you have driven for longer
than 3 seconds and faster than 3 mph (5 km/
h).

gine hood and checking the brake f luid.
- Driving with low brake fluid is a safety
hazard! Stop the car and get profess ional
assistance .
- USA models: If both, the 1111 warning
light and the
m!SJ warn ing light come
on at the same time, the rear wheels
could lock up first unde r hard braking.
Lock-up of the rear wheel brakes can
cause loss of vehi cle con t rol and an acci-
dent. Have your veh icle repa ired immedi-
ately by your authorized Audi dealer or a
qualified workshop . Drive slowly and
avoid sudden, hard brake application.
- Canada models: If both, the brake warn-
ing light . and the ABS warning light
[iJ come on at the same time, the rear
wheels could lock up first under hard
