CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Carrying out the
descaling programme
When the “Descaling necessary”
LED
13
is illuminated, this means
that the descaling programme must be
carried out. The programme lasts for
approximately 20 minutes.
1. Switch on the tea maker.
2. Open the pod compartment

remove the sealing lm and insert a
cleaning pod.
The LED “Descaling necessary”
begins to ash and the
On/O button

illuminates.
3. Press the On/O button to start the
descaling programme.
The LED “Descaling necessary” will
ash throughout the entire cleaning
programme.
The LED “Water tank empty”

will go out.
4. Empty the water tank

and
remove the water lter, if necessary.
5. Pour 250 ml of Avoury liquid desca-
ling agent and an additional 250 ml
of tap water into the water tank.
6. Replace the water tank again.
The LED “Empty pod basket”

illuminates.
7. Empty the drip tray and the pod
basket

8. Replace both parts again.
9. Place a container that holds at least
300 ml volume under the outlet

Descaling takes place in 250 ml
cycles. Once the descaling liquid
has passed through the system, it is
released into the container. Once a
cycle has been completed, the con-
tainer must be emptied and placed
under the outlet again. At this point,
press the On/O button to conrm
that the next cycle can begin. This
process should be repeated until
the water tank has been emptied
entirely.
After the rst part of the descaling
programme has been completed,
the “Water tank empty”

lights up.
10. Remove the water tank and tip away
the remaining liquid.
11. Rinse out the water tank with fresh
tap water.
12. Empty the container and place it
back under the outlet.
13. Fill the water tank with 500 ml tap
water and put it back in again.
The tea maker rinses the brewing
unit in 250 ml cycles with clear tap
water. The tap water that passes
through runs into the container.
Once a cycle has been completed,
the container must be emptied and
placed under the outlet again. At
this point, press the On/O but-
ton to conrm that the next cycle

/ lights up continuously.
If necessary rell the water tank.
The cleaning programme is nished.
Irrespective of how often the tea machi-
ne is used we recommend cleaning it at
least once a month with a cleaning cap-
sule, even if the LED “carry out cleaning”
does not light up. To clean the machine,
activate the care mode (see page 35)
and place a cleaning capsule in the cap-
sule slot to be able to start the cleaning
programme.
Descaling
IMPORTANT: Remove the water lter
before descaling!
When the LED “carry out descaling”
/ lights up the descaling pro-
gramme should be started. The pro-
gramme takes about 15 minutes.
1. Turn on the tea machine and wait
until the Start-Button / is
continuously lit up.
2. Activate care mode. Press and hold
the buttons “lling capacity”
– / and “brewing time”
+ / simultaneously for approx.
3 seconds.
3. Open the capsule compartment
and insert a descaling capsule.
4. The LED “carry out descaling” /
starts ashing red and the Start-
Button / is continuously lit up

whole cleaning programme and goes
o when the programme ends.
5. To start the descaling programme,
press the Start-Button / .
6. The LEDs “water tank empty” /
and “empty capsule container”
/ are continuously lit up red.
7. Empty the water tank and remove
the water lter if there is one.
8. Pour 250ml Avoury liquid descaler
and 250ml of tap water into the
water tank.
9. Reinsert the water tank.
10. The LED “water tank empty” /
goes o.
11. Remove the drip drawer and
empty the drip tray and the capsule
container.
12. Replace the drip drawer and
place a collecting vessel with a
volume of at least 300ml under the
outlet .
13. The LED “empty capsule container”
/ goes o and descaling
begins automatically.
Info: Descaling is carried out in two
cycles. The descaling liquid that has
run through the machine ows into
the collecting vessel.
14. The rst cycle is nished when the
Start-Button / is continuously
lit up.
15. Empty the collecting vessel then put
it back under the outlet.
16. Then press the Start-Button /
to start the second cycle.
17. The second cycle is nished when
the LEDs “water tank empty” /
and “empty capsule container”
/ light up and the
Start-Button / ashes.
