productcanbesettoautomaticallyidentifythelightsourceandcompensateforitscolor.Alternatively,selectthetypeoflight

ThewhitebalancewindowisenabledfortheAutomaticandAutomaticoutdooroptionsthatappearintheWhitebalancedrop-down
list.Selectoneoftheoptionsfromthedrop-downlisttosetthewhitebalancewindowproperties.SelectAutomatictousethe
defaultsettingsfortheAutomaticandAutomaticoutdooroptions(intheWhitebalancedrop-downlist).SelectCustomtomanually
setareferencewindowforwhitebalanceintheviewarea.
SelectManualtodisplaytheOne-clickWhiteBalancebutton.ClickSavetoactivatethebutton.
Tosetthewhitebalance,makesurethatawhiteobjectincorrectlightingconditionsisoccupyingmorethanhalftheimage
andclickOne-clickWhiteBalance.
Exposuresettings
Exposureistheamountoflightthecamera’ssensorcapturesforascene.Toomuchlightresultsinawashedoutimageandtoo
littlelightresultsinadarkimage.
AutomaticBacklightCompensation-Theimageisautomaticallycorrectedtocompensateforsmallandverybrightareasbehindthe
subjectofinterest.Ifrequiredne-tunethisfurtherthroughtheuseoftheExposurevalueslider.
Exposurevalue-UsetheExposurevalueslidertoadjusttheoverallbrightnessoftheimage.
Exposurecontrol-Selectasuitableoptiontocontrolexposure.
Formostscenes,theAutomaticoptionwillprovidethebestresults.Theshutterspeedisautomaticallysettoproduceoptimum
imagequality.Fluorescentlampsorotherlightsourcescansometimescauseickeringintheimage.Toreduceickerintheimage,
selecttheFlickeroptionthatmatchesthepowerlinefrequency.
TheHoldcurrentoptionlocksthecurrentexposuresettings.
Maxexposuretime-Shutterspeed,alsocalled‘exposuretime’,standsforthelengthoftimethecamerashutterisopen,thereby
exposingthecamerasensortolight.Ifshutterspeedisfastitcanfreezeactioneffectively.Ifshutterspeedisslow,itcancause
movingobjectstoappearblurred.Decreasingtheexposuretimewillreducemotionblur.
EnableBacklightcompensation-Enablethisoptionifabrightspotoflight,suchasalightbulb,causesotherareasintheimage
toappeartoodark.
Exposurezones-Thissettingdetermineswhichpartoftheimageisusedtocalculatetheexposure.Formostsituations,theAuto
settingcanbeused.
YoucanselectapredenedareabydeningIncludeandExcludewindowswithintheimage.Excludewindowsexcludeareasthatare
toobrightordark,andIncludewindowsincludeareasinthescenethathavebetterlightingwhichwillcontributetotheexposuredata.
TheremustbeatleastoneIncludewindow.TherecanbeatotaloftenIncludeandExcludewindowstotailortheexposurezone.
NotethatanExcludewindowiseffectiveonlywhenplacedinsideanincludewindow.
Tip:Ifanareaisextremelybright,drawanIncludewindowtocoverthewholeareaanddeneExcludewindowswithinitto
blockoutthebrightareas.
Exposurepriority-WhenMotionisprioritizedandmaximumShuttertimeissettoasmallvalue,motionblurintheimageis
minimized.Thiscanbeusefulforrecognitionofmovingobjectssuchaspeopleandvehicles.
However,prioritizingmotionmaycauseanincreaseinimagenoise,especiallyinlowlightsituations.WhenLownoiseisprioritized
andGainissettoasmallvalue,imagenoiseisminimized.Thelesizeisalsoreduced,whichcanbeusefulifstoragespaceor
bandwidthislimited.Beawarethatprioritizinglownoisemayresultinaverydarkimage,especiallyinlowlightsituations.
Shutter&Gain
Theshutterandgainsettingsaffecttheamountofmotionblurandnoiseintheimage.Toadapttodifferentlightingconditions,
availablestoragespaceandbandwidth,itisoftennecessarytoprioritizeeitherlowmotionblurorlownoise.TheAxisproductallows
differentprioritizationsinnormalandlowlight.
Shutterspeedisrelatedtotheamountoftimetheshutterisopenedandismeasuredinseconds(s).Aslowshutterspeedallows
morelighttoreachthesensorandcanhelpproduceabrighterimageinlowlight.Ontheotherhand,aslowshutterspeedcan
causemovingobjectstoappearblurry.
