What to do if my BD Medical Equipment is on but not suctioning properly?

  If your BD Medical Equipment is on but not suctioning properly, first ensure that all tubing connections are properly connected. Check the collector tubing for any blockages or flow restrictions, such as pinched or kinked tubing. Make sure the overflow stop valve in the collection canister lid is open. If the lid or canister has been tipped, gently shake the lid to reset the valve. Also, ensure the collection canister is sealed with the lid tightly closed. Finally, verify suction by disconnecting the PureWick™ External Catheter from the collector tubing and placing the end of the collector tubing into a cup of water. If water flows easily into the collection canister, replace the PureWick™ External Catheter.

  If your BD Medical Equipment does not turn on when using external power, check that the power cord is securely plugged into both the PureWick™ Urine Collection System and the electrical outlet. To ensure the electrical outlet is functioning correctly, plug another electrical device into the same outlet.
