7.6. RTA logging
The RTA logging module is intended for long-term monitoring of the spectral character-
istics of sounds. It logs the spectrum in 1/1, 1/3, 1/6 or 1/12 octaves, as well as the A, C and
Z-weighted equivalent continuous levels. The averaging window can be set to any value
between 1 second and 999 seconds.
RTA main measurement screen (1/3 octave band, 1 second averaging)
On the main screen of the RTA logging module, logged data is represented in the form of
a spectrogram. The horizontal axis is the spectral axis (bandwidth between 1/12 and 1/1
octave), the vertical axis is the time axis. The latest spectrum is added consecutively to the
bottom of the screen. The measured level is indicated by means of color, according to the
legend displayed on the left side of the screen.
The RTA logging module does not feature a “save” button. Measurement data is automati-
cally logged to an output file after every averaging interval.
Once logging is started, the logging will continue indefinitely unless it is stopped again
manually (through the “Stop” button) or until the battery runs out. For long term-logging,
we recommend connecting the instrument to an external power supply.
A new log file is automatically started every day at midnight.
