OPERATION MISCELLANEOUS
32
Trenching Close to Walls
Back the unit in at an angle close to the wall. Deter-
mine the width of the trench and position the swing
post pin half the trench width from the wall.
Turn the front wheels so they are parallel to the wall.
This will allow the backhoe operator to reset the unit
along the course of the trench with the lift and crowd
levers. Keep the stabilizer closest to the wall raised,
and set the other stabilizer down firmly.
DIGGING STRAIGHT WALL
SHALLOW BASEMENTS
Begin at one corner, removing as much material as
possible to grade level. Then, reset the unit forward
and continue digging to grade. Progress around the
edge of the basement, finishing each corner as you
come to it.
DIGGING UNDER A SIDEWALK OR CURB
To continue a trench or excavation under a sidewalk or
curb position the backhoe as shown.
