What to do if my Bosch Heat Pump is not providing enough cooling or heating?

      Thomas ChapmanNov 27, 2025
If your Bosch Heat Pump isn't sufficiently cooling or heating, several factors could be responsible. The unit might be undersized, so recalculate heating and cooling loads. Check for air leaks in duct work or around doors and windows. Ensure adequate airflow and replace any dirty filters. The refrigerant charge may be low, which causes inefficient operation. Inspect the compressor for defects; if the discharge is too low and suction pressure is too high, the compressor might need replacing. A defective reversing valve could also be the culprit, creating a bypass of refrigerant. Compare unit operating pressures to the pressure/temperature chart. Check the TXV for restrictions or defects, and replace if necessary. Lastly, the refrigerant system might be contaminated with moisture or nonconde...

What to do if my Bosch CE049 unit does not run at all?

If your Bosch Heat Pump isn't running, first ensure the power supply is on and the disconnect is closed. Check and replace any blown fuses or reset the circuit breaker, making sure you are using the correct fuses. If the voltage supply is below the minimum specified on the unit's data plate, contact your local power company. To check the thermostat, set the fan to 'ON'; the fan should run. Set the thermostat to 'COOL' at the lowest temperature; the unit should run in cooling mode. Set the unit to 'HEAT' at the highest temperature; the unit should run in heating mode. If neither the blower nor the compressor runs in all three cases, the thermostat might be miswired or faulty. Verify 24 volts are available on the condensing section's low-voltage terminal strip between 'R' and 'C', 'Y' and 'C...
