How to troubleshoot a Bosch CA Heat Pump when the entire unit does not run?
    • M
      Melissa DanielJul 26, 2025
If your entire Bosch Heat Pump unit isn't running, first ensure the power supply is on and the disconnect is closed. If that's not the issue, check for a blown fuse and replace it or reset the circuit breaker, making sure you use the correct fuses. If the voltage supply is too low (below the minimum specified on the unit's data plate), contact your local power company. Also, examine the thermostat settings and wiring.

Why is the blower running but the compressor not working on my Bosch CA?
    • W
      William ShortJul 31, 2025
If your Bosch Heat Pump blower operates but the compressor does not, check the thermostat settings, calibration, and wiring. Inspect for any loose or broken wires at the compressor, capacitor, or contactor. Also, check the UPM board red default L.E.D. for a Blink Code. If the compressor overload is open and the compressor is cool, and the overload won't reset, consider replacing the compressor. If the compressor motor is grounded (internal winding grounded to the compressor shell) or the compressor windings are open, replace the compressor. If there was a compressor burnout, install a suction filter dryer.

What to do if my Bosch CA Heat Pump unit turns off on high pressure control?
    • B
      Brian NobleAug 11, 2025
If your Bosch Heat Pump unit turns off due to high pressure, it could be due to several reasons. In cooling mode, check for a lack of or inadequate water flow, excessively warm entering water temperature, or a scaled/plugged condenser. In heating mode, investigate lack of or inadequate air flow, an inoperative blower, a clogged filter, or restrictions in the duct work. Also, the unit might be overcharged with refrigerant, in which case you should reclaim the refrigerant, evacuate the system, and recharge it with the factory-recommended amount. Finally, inspect the high-pressure switch for defects or improper calibration.

What to do if my Bosch CA Heat Pump unit shuts off on low pressure control?
    • K
      Kenneth JohnstonAug 16, 2025
If your Bosch Heat Pump unit turns off due to low pressure, it could be caused by suction pressure being too low. In cooling mode, this may result from a lack of or inadequate air flow, or an entering air temperature that is too cold, blower inoperative, clogged filter or restrictions in duct work. In heating mode, a lack of or inadequate water flow or an entering water temperature that is too cold, or a scaled or plugged condenser might be the cause. The unit could also be low on refrigerant, so check for leaks, repair them, evacuate the system, and recharge with the factory-recommended charge. Lastly, check the low-pressure switch for defects or improper calibration.

Why does my Bosch CA Heat Pump keep short cycling?
    • K
      Kevin ThompsonAug 20, 2025
If your Bosch Heat Pump is short cycling, the unit might be oversized, requiring a recalculation of heating and cooling loads. The thermostat could be installed near a supply air grill; if so, relocate it and readjust the heat anticipator. Also, check the wiring and controls for a defective or improperly calibrated low-pressure switch.

Why is my Bosch CA providing insufficient cooling or heating?
    • R
      Rhonda FullerNov 4, 2025
If your Bosch Heat Pump isn't cooling or heating sufficiently, several factors could be at play. The unit might be undersized, so recalculate the heating and cooling loads, adding insulation and shading if excessive. Check for leaks in duct work or the introduction of ambient air through doors or windows. Ensure adequate airflow and proper distribution by replacing any dirty filters. A low refrigerant charge can cause inefficient operation. Inspect the compressor for defects; if the discharge is too low and suction pressure is too high, the compressor may not be pumping properly. Check the reversing valve for defects that could cause refrigerant bypass. Compare unit operating pressures to the pressure/temperature chart. Examine the TXV for restrictions or defects, replacing it if necessary...
