When the steering wheel is turned with the engine
stopped, the spool, sleeve and Gerotor pump are
rotated as described previously. For example,
when the stee r ing whee l is m anu ally tur ne d
counterclockwise, hydraulic oil at the left side of
the PST cylinder is sucked through the port R and
is flowed to the Gerotor through the sleeve and
spool. Then, after hydraulic oil is pressurized in the
Gerotor, it is flowed into the left side of the check
valve through the spool and sleeve and leaves the
right side of the valve. Finally, it passes through
thespool,sleeveandportLandowsintotheright
port of the PST cylinder to complete the manual left
turn operation. For right turn, hydraulic oil is sucked
through the port L from the right port of the PST
cylinder and is owed intothe left port of the PST
cylinder through the port R to complete the manual
right turn operation.
