Section II Exhaust the Braking System
Fill with brake liquid and use exhaust unit V.A.G 1869 when exhausting the braking system
When one or more chambers in brake liquid reservoir are empty (when braking system has leakage),
use function “Basis settings” on fault reader to exhaust the hydraulic unit.
Note:
Be sure pressure for filling brake liquid is less than 1bar. Filling pressure is be lower than 1bar→V.A.G
1869
So, filling pressure for brake liquid and exhaust unit V.A.G 1869 shall be controlled below 1bar→V.A.G
1869 operation instructions
If filling pressure is above 1bar, it is impossible to monitor level of brake fluid
Exhaust for braking system on ASB type vehicle and exhaust for common braking system
Use DOT4 new brake fluid
Brake fluid is toxic and corrosive, so prevent it from splashing on paint
Brake fluid is water absorbing and can absorb vapor. So brake liquid shall be stored in a sealed
container.
Use plenty of water to wash off overflowing brake fluid
Use V.A.G1869 to exhaust braking system
Necessary special tools and workshop devices
Brake fluid filling and air exhausting device V.A.G 1869
Exhaust for braking system on ASB type vehicle is same with
exhaust for common braking system
- Connect V.A.G1869
- Screw off exhaust bolts and exhaust the braking system in
specified sequence
Exhaust procedures:
1 Rear right sub-pump/brake caliper
2 Rear left sub-pump/brake caliper
3 Front right brake caliper
4 Front left brake caliper
