The Post Lift Metastable Suppressor (PLMS) deflects (if switched on) the parent
together with those metastable fragments, which are formed after
LIFT (Figure 3-1,
Figure 3-8). It can be switched off to allow the detection of the parent, e.g., for
calibration purposes.
