BYD M6 AUTO Owner’s Manual
Before Driving 3-4
ignition system, distributor
ignition system or fuel supply
system could cause overheating
of the three-way catalytic
converter.
y If the engine has trouble in
starting or stalls frequently, your
vehicle needs service.
y To ensure normal operation of
the three-way catalytic converter
and the whole emission control
system, regularly check the
vehicle according to BYD M6
Maintenance Schedule.
Engine Exhaust Warning
CAUTION
y Avoid breathing in the exhaust
gas, since the colorless,
odorless carbon monoxide in the
exhaust can cause you to lose
consciousness and even die.
y Make sure the exhaust system is
free of leakage or loose
connection. Check the exhaust
system regularly. After a vehicle
collision or in case of a change
in the exhaust noise, check the
exhaust system immediately.
y Don’t run the engine in an
enclosed space such as garage
except entering/exiting such
space. High concentration of
exhaust gas is dangerous.
y Don’t stay in the vehicle for a
long time when it is parked with
the engine running. If you have
to, park the vehicle in open
space and adjust A/C system to
forcibly take fresh air into the
vehicle.
y Before driving, close the rear
door to prevent exhaust gas
from entering the vehicle.
y Make sure the air intake grid in
the front of the windshield is not
blocked by such matters as
leaves or snow.
y If you smell exhaust gas in the
car, immediately open the
windows to let fresh air enter the
vehicle. It may be the result of a
leak in the exhaust system and
needs to be serviced
immediately. Exhaust inside the
passenger compartment can be
very dangerous as it contains
toxic gases.
