Checking Battery Conditions
CAUTION
Abide by the instructions below
when handling the battery since it
generates explosive and flammable
hydrogen.
y Prevent the battery from
generating spark when using
tools.
y Don't smoke or use anything
that produce an open flame or
spark near the battery.
y The battery electrolyte contains
toxic and corrosive sulfuric acid.
y Prevent the electrolyte from
contacting your eyes, skin or
clothing.
y Don’t drink the electrolyte by
mistake.
y Wear safety glasses when
operating around the battery.
y Keep children away from the
battery.
Emergency Handling
y If any electrolyte gets into your
eyes, flush your eyes with clean
water for at least 15 minutes and
get immediate medical attention.
If possible, continue to apply
water with a sponge or cloth to
the affected area while on the
way to the hospital.
y If electrolyte gets on your skin,
thoroughly wash the contacted
area. Get immediate medical
attention if irritation persists.
y If electrolyte gets on your
clothing, it may penetrate to
contact your skin. Take off the
contaminated clothing and
handling the affected area as
described above in necessary.
y If you drink the electrolyte by
mistake, drink large quantities of
water or milk and take raw eggs,
plant oil or milk containing
magnesium oxide. Get
immediate medical attention.
