Automatic Transmission
The automatic transmission is
equipped with a shift lock system to
minimize the possibility of incorrect
operation. The shift lever cannot be
moved out of P gear unless the
brake pedal is pressed down while
the ignition switch is at ON.
(a) Shift Lever
The current gear is displayed on
the combination instrument.
P: When parking, starting engine
or when the key is removed.
R: Reverse gear
N: Neutral gear
D: Drive gear (you can shift to
overdrive gear)
M: Drive at M gear
+: Upshift
-: Downshift
Shift gear with the brake pedal
pressed down (ignition switch at
ON)
Normal gear shifting
With M or D selected, move
the shift lever to left/right
