Mounting Snow Chains
When to Use Snow Chains
Snow chains can be used when you
drive on snow or icy roads.
On wet or dry surfaces, the normal
tires provide larger traction than tires
with snow chains.
Choosing Snow Chains
Choose a proper tire chain size.
Refer to the applicable local laws on
using snow chains on different roads
before you choose the snow chains.
NOTICE
y Improper snow chains may
cause damage to the vehicle
body.
Mounting Snow chains
Mount the snow chains as firmly as
possible on the front wheels. Never
mount snow chains on rear wheels.
Retighten the snow chain after driving
for 0.5-1.0km.
Follow the manufacturer’s instruction
when installing the snow chains.
If you have installed wheel covers,
remove them before mounting the
snow chains. Snow chains will scratch
the wheel covers.
CAUTION
y When driving with snow chains,
do not exceed 50 km/h or the
speed limit recommended by the
snow chain manufacturer,
whichever is lower
y Drive carefully and avoid bumps,
holes and sharp turns, which
may cause the vehicle to
bounce.
y Avoid sharp turns or
locked-wheel braking, which
may adversely affect vehicle
handling.
y Slow down prior to making a
turn. Otherwise you may lose
control of the vehicle and cause
an accident.
NOTICE
y Don’t install tire chains to the
spare tire that is only intended
for temporary use. Otherwise
the vehicle or tire may get
damaged.
