General safety instructions
~
The
following important safety instructions must
be
Lll
observed when using electric devices,
as
protection
against electric shock, injury and fire hazard.
Please
read
and
follow these instructions before using the device.
Setting up
Please
ensure that the device
is
placed securely and cannot
fall down or tip
over.
Always position cables
so
that nobody
can
trip over them.
Do
not expose electric devices
to
rain.
Do
not operate electric devices
in
a damp or humid environment.
Do
not operate electric devices
in
the vicinity
of
flammable
liquids or gases.
Place
electric devices
so
that children do not
have access
to
them.
Protection against electric shock
Only operate devices whose housing and cables are undam-
aged. Ensure safe cable positioning.
Do
not pull cables.
~
Safeguard the electric connection
of
the devices with a
Lll
30 mA-rated leakage current circuit breaker, and only
operate it with this protection.
Observe the power supply
companies regulations.
Use
Do
not use electric devices other than for the purpose speci-
fied by the manufacturer.
Accessories
Only use accessories and supplementary devices supplied or
recommended by the manufacturer.
lnappropriate use
~
Do
not
use
with 6 V batteries or with non-rechargeable
Lll
batteries!
The
power supply must not
be
used to charge 6 V
lead
batter-
ies.
Gasification starts immediately if batteries with a nominal
rating of 6 V are charged with the electrical power supply.
Explosive oxyhydrogen gas
is
generated.
The
power supply must not
be
used to charge non-recharge-
able batteries and
I or nickel-cadmium batteries. When charg-
ing these battery types with the power supply, the outer cover
may rupture explosively.
Description
The
electrical power supply
is
a product
of
state-of-the-art
microprocessor-controlled switching power supply techno-
logy. This technology permits high output together with
low
weight and small dimensions. lt
is
highly efficient thanks to
the use
of
top quality electronic materials. Automatie charging
affords protection and prevents harmful battery overload. This
considerably extends the life of the battery. Once connected
to the battery and the mains, the power supply
is
ready for
operation.
The
power supply
is
designed for parallel and back-up mode.
At
all times, consumers
can
remain connected,
be
added or
switched oft. Consumers are supplied with the power and the
battery
is
charged at the same time. Consumer current should
be
lower than the maximum charging current, otherwise the
battery will not
be
charged.

®
Purpose
The
power supply
is
a combination
of
an
automatic charger
and
an
automatic battery separator.
lt
is
used to supply
12
V voltage and to charge exclusively
12
V
lead
accumulators, comprising 6 single cells
(e.g.
car
battery), with a capacity
of
70 - 200 Ah for the power supply
EVS
36/20-DS/IU
and
100 - 300 Ah for the power supply
EVS
36/30-DS/IU.
The
power supply
is
universally usable and designed for per-
manent operation.
lt
is
particularly suitable for use
in
campers.
The
recommended
use
is
with AGM
Igel
batteries.
The
power
supply must only
be
operated
in
dry spaces.
@
21
lt the electrical power supply
is
operated together with a tem-
perature sensor for the supply battery (Battery
II),
the electrical
power supply regulates the charging voltage automatically
depending on the temperature
of
the battery. This ensures a
particularly effective and gentle charging process for the bat-
tery. When not using a temperature sensor, the power supply
controls the charging process
as
if the battery temperature
was 20
°C.
The
device
is
designed for operation
in
ambient temperatures
of up
to
35
°C.
lf
the temperature inside the device rises due
to
a lack
of
air circulation or due to high ambient temperature,
the charging current
is
automatically reduced
in
steps.
