Handling rolls
Selecting the Paper Source
When selecting Paper Feed Slot , press the Feeder Selection button.
Y ou can determine which Paper Feed Slot is selected by checking which lamp is lit, the Roll Media lamp
(a) or the Cut Sheet lamp (b).
• Roll Media lamp : Selected when printing on Roll Media .
• Cut Sheet lamp : Selected when printing on Sheets from the T op Paper Feed Slot or Front Paper
Feed Slot .
Note
• If any paper is loaded that will not be used, a message is shown on the Display Screen , either Remove
roll? or Eject sheet? when you press the Feeder Selection button.
When removing the paper , press the OK button. ( → P .145)
• Y ou cannot switch the paper source in the following situations:
• If the Message lamp is ashing
Check the message on the Display Screen and take action as necessary . ( → P .684)
• If the Data lamp is ashing
Select the paper source after printing.
• If a printer menu operation is in progress
Select the paper source after the menu operation.
• When in the process of loading paper
Finish loading the paper before selecting the paper source.
• When in the process of replacing Ink T anks
Finish replacing the Ink T anks before selecting the paper source.
• If the T op Cover is open
Close the T op Cover before selecting the paper source.
