This document is an instruction manual for the Caple CE902SS/CE902WH Ceiling Hood.
Function Description
The Caple CE902SS/CE902WH is a ceiling-mounted cooker hood designed to extract vapours and remove odours from cooking in domestic settings. It is intended for use in household and similar applications, including staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working environments, farmhouses, hotels, motels, and other residential-type environments, and bed and breakfast type environments. The hood can operate in extraction mode, conveying extracted air through a duct, or in recirculation mode. When operating in extraction mode, it is crucial to ensure adequate aeration in the room, especially when other non-electric appliances (gas, oil, or coal stoves) are used simultaneously, to prevent negative pressure exceeding 0.04 mbar. For recirculation hoods fitted above a gas hob, an adequate supply of fresh air into the room is necessary. The appliance is equipped with intelligent electronics that include a timer device for speed controls when the air capacity exceeds 650m³/h.

- Dimmable Lights Function: The lights are dimmable, ranging from 20% to 100%.
- Pressing the light key once: Light ON at 100% or Light OFF.
- Continuously pressing the light key: Brightness reduction or increase. Releasing the key during reduction or increase maintains the current luminous intensity. If the light is dimmed, continuously pressing the key inverts the brightness adjustment direction.
- Generating a New Transmission Code: If multiple hoods are in close proximity, the remote control code can be changed. This involves simultaneously pressing the light ON/OFF and motor ON/OFF buttons for two seconds until the LED lights up, then pressing the reduce speed and increase speed buttons within 5 seconds. The LED flashing 3 times indicates completion. This operation permanently deletes preset codes.
- Resetting Factory Configuration: To restore factory settings, simultaneously press the light ON/OFF and motor ON/OFF buttons for two seconds until the LED lights up, then press the light ON/OFF button within 5 seconds. The LED flashing 6 times indicates completion. This operation permanently deletes preset codes.
- Emergency Button: In case the remote control malfunctions, an emergency button can be used to switch the appliance off. After repairs, the emergency button should be reset.
Maintenance Features
- Grease Filter Access: The steel panels covering the grease filters can be opened by gently pulling their sides. Safety chains need to be released using spring catches for complete opening.
- Grease Filter Cleaning: The grease filters should be regularly cleaned to avoid fire risk and ensure optimal performance. After cleaning, refit the grease filter by reversing the removal process, ensuring the stainless steel panel is properly fixed.
- General Cleaning: The appliance should be cleaned with warm water and neutral detergents. Abrasive products should be avoided. After cleaning, dry with a soft cloth. For steel appliances, specialised detergents are recommended, following the product's instructions.
- LED Light Replacement: To replace an LED light, use an appropriate tool to remove the LED bar from its seat and disconnect it electronically. Replacement lights can be purchased by contacting Caple Service at T: 0117 938 7420 or E: service@caple.co.uk.
- Remote Control Battery Replacement: The remote control battery should be replaced annually to ensure optimal range. To replace, remove the plastic lid, replace the battery, observing correct polarities, and discard used batteries in special collection bins.
- Pre-installation Check: Before installation, check that all components are not damaged. If any damage is found, contact the retailer and do not proceed with installation.
- Electrical Safety: Before any cleaning or maintenance, the appliance must be disconnected from the electric grid. The electrical safety is only guaranteed when correctly earthed. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician. Do not connect the appliance to the mains electricity supply by a multi-socket unit or an extension lead, as these are fire hazards.
- Warranty: The appliance is covered by a warranty. The warranty card, or proof of purchase including date, model, and serial number, is required for replacement or repair. Registration can be completed online at www.caple.co.uk. Spare parts are available from Caple Service and authorised centres.
