Evacuation, Leak Checking, and Refrigerant Charging

Moisture Impact on System

Moisture causes sludge, freezing, corrosion; system must be kept dry.

Essential Evacuation Tools

Tools needed: vacuum pump (P/N 07-00176-01) and vacuum gauge indicator (P/N 07-00414-00).

Evacuation Process Steps

System Leak Testing

Perform leak check by drawing deep vacuum and verifying it holds.

Initial Vacuum Draw

Evacuate until vacuum gauge reads 2,000 microns; confirm vacuum holds.

Nitrogen Purge and Pressure Rise

Break vacuum with dry nitrogen, raise system pressure to ~2 psig.

Repeating Evacuation Procedure

Repeat the evacuation and nitrogen purge steps one more time.

Refrigerant Charging Procedure

Final Evacuation to 500 Microns

Evacuate to 500 microns; wait 5 minutes to check for residual moisture/leaks.

Charging Refrigerant by Weight

Charge refrigerant from container on weight scales; monitor scales for correct amount.

Verify Correct Refrigerant Type

Ensure the correct refrigerant type is used for each specific unit model.

Refrigerant Charge Specifications

Table provides refrigerant type and charge weight for each model.

Evaporator CPR Adjustment

CPR Valve Functionality

CPR regulates refrigerant flow to compressor, controls capacity, reduces load.

CPR Adjustment Conditions

Perform adjustment during road operation (2,400 RPM) or Heat/Defrost mode.

CPR Setting Values and Adjustment Factors

Evaporator TXV Setting
