5 Operation
After proper installation the welding camera system is ready for operation. Before operation
the following preliminary issues need to be performed:
check that camera unit and temperature warning unit are properly installed
check that the replaceable protective window of the camera unit is clean
power up the computer
check that the electrical connections are as described in Section 4.2.
make sure that the safety instructions (Chapter 2) have been properly followed
connect the power supply cable to AC mains. This will switch on the green POWER
led on the temperature warning unit (Fig. 3.5A)
5.1 Temperature Warning Unit
The welding camera system can be powered up by pressing the CAM ON/OFF button (Fig.
3.5E). This will initiate internal checks which can take up to 3 seconds. After successful
initialization the green CAM OK led (Fig. 3.5B) will switch on and the camera is ready for
operation (see Section 5.2).
In case of an unsuccessful initialization either the orange CHECK COOLING led (Fig. 3.5C)
or the red CRITICAL ERROR led (Fig. 3.5D) will switch on. Whenever CHECK COOLING
or CRITICAL ERROR activates, TWU will generate an audible warning sound. The audible
warning sound can be momentarily muted by pressing the SOUND OFF button (Fig. 3.5F).
CHECK COOLING led will activate if the internal temperature inside the camera unit
exceeds 55 . At the same time the audible warning sound will be activated. Pressing
SOUND OFF button will silence the audible warning sound. The audible warning sound will
not re-activate unless CRITICAL ERROR activates. If CHECK COOLING activates, check
the cooling system without delay and ensure the camera is properly cooled.
CRITICAL ERROR led will activate if the internal temperature inside the camera is either
above 65 ℃ or below 10 ℃ or if some other critical error is present. CRITICAL ERROR will
always activate the audible warning sound which can be silenced by pressing the SOUND
OFF button. In case of CRITICAL ERROR the power will be disconnected from the camera
and image acquisition will be stopped as the connection between camera and computer will be
lost. The camera will automatically try to restart after 30 seconds (unless the camera has been
switched off by pressing the CAM ON/OFF button). If CRITICAL ERROR remains active,
the audible warning sound will restart. If CRITICAL ERROR activates during operation,
urgent measures are needed to avoid damage to the camera. Switch off the system by pressing
CAM ON/OFF button and remove any heat loads from the camera or remove the camera from
the process as quickly as possible. After this the operation of the cooling system should be
examined in detail. If CRITICAL ERROR remains even if the camera is properly cooled,
please contact your vendor or Cavitar.
