Group 5 Text
The editing procedures for text data are somewhat different compared to numeric data entry. In the text group, each item is an individual text
line as would be printed on a receipt. These items are selected as before with SW3 and SW4, with the item number displayed in the EXTRAS
window. In order to display an individual character, the FARE window is split into two sections, the leftmost 3 digits displaying the ASCII value of
the character on the text line, whose position in the text line is pointed to by the rightmost 2 digits, a blank digit separating the two sections. In
this mode, for each item selected (i.e. each text line), SW2 and SW5 scroll through the character position in the text line anti-clockwise and
clockwise, respectively. When an item is selected for editing with switch SW6, the rightmost digit of the 3-digit ASCII value flashes to indicate
that it can be edited by pressing switch SW4 to increment or by pressing switch SW3 to decrement. Switches SW2 and SW5 scroll through the
3 digits anti-clockwise and clockwise respectively, allowing any of the 3 digits to be edited. When the ASCII value of the character has been
changed to the user’s satisfaction, pressing switch SW6 accepts and saves the value, while pressing switch SW1 will revert to Group Selection
without saving the changes.
