Donning and Doffing

MSA G1 Electronic Breathing Apparatus
In order to guarantee a proper fit for those wearing glasses, the MSA G1
E spectacle kit must be worn since ordinary glasses cannot be worn
under the full facemask. If a spectacle kit is required, contact the State
PPE&C Management Centre to arrange it. Only remove the facemask in
a safe, non-hazardous, non-toxic atmosphere (the COLD zone).
Operators must wear the correct protective clothing and precautions must
be taken so that the BA is not exposed to atmospheres that may be
harmful to it.
Failure to follow these warnings can result in serious personal injury or
death.
Operation
Before donning, ensure the BA has passed all visual inspections and functional tests.
Complete the following steps to don the BA and facemask.
Step Description Illustration
1 Prepare to don the BA.
1.1 Ensure the donning process is undertaken in a clean air environment.
1.2 Check PPC is being worn correctly.
Fit the flash hood to Step 3 of the “Donning the
flash hood” procedure.
1.3 Loosen all harness straps to their full extent.
