MSA G1 Electronic Breathing Apparatus
Letter Description
C = Communications
Voice Projection Speaker on and working. After taking
your first breath check speaker volume and clarity
with your partner.
Portable Radio. Is your radio on, the volume up and
on the correct fireground channel?
Who are you? What is your team designation? For
example: BA team Alpha.
T = Tally tag, Task
Is your BA tally tag been correctly filled out and
placed in the BA control board?
Task. What is your objective(s)? For example, locate
fire and extinguish.
Tactics. How are you going to achieve your task?
Functional Pre-Operational Check
Verify the BA’s operability before using it. It must
not
be used if:
the function test is unsuccessful;
it is damaged or suspected damage is identified;
the BA is not functioning according to the instructions or training.
Visual Inspection
If the BA does not function properly as described in the Functional Test
topic, it must be removed from service and returned to the State PPE&C
Management Centre, with an attached fault report.
Only use the BA in the way that the manufacture intends it to be used.
Visual inspections are carried before, during and after use, a minimum of
weekly or at change of shift.
