Chapter 5
After-use Care and Maintenance
128 SAFETY FIRST Edition 1December 2019
MSA G1 Electronic Breathing Apparatus
Batteries should only be charged once they reach the low battery alarm,
less than or equal to 19%.
Low battery (19% or less) is indicated
by:
one red segment displayed on the
battery icon on the secondary
screen;
a yellow flashing battery in the
HUD; or
one red segment on the battery
icon in the battery status screen.
The batteries performance will start to degrade after 400 cycles and, as
such, it is important that batteries
are not
put back on the charger until
they are at 19% or less.
Do not
use the charger to determine if a battery requires charging by
placing in the charging cradle.
Batteries must only be removed in a non-hazardous, clean environment.
Fully charged batteries may remain on the charger as the batteries will not
over charge.
For all battery related issues, refer to the State PPE&C Management
Centre Procedure MSA G1E Batteries Fault Replacement.
