How to fix Char-Broil Grill burner that won't light with ignitor?
    • B
      Brett StoneAug 15, 2025
If the burners on your Char-Broil Grill won't light using the ignitor, it could be due to several reasons. The wires or electrode might be covered in cooking residue; if so, clean them with rubbing alcohol and a clean swab. Alternatively, the electrode and burner might be wet; wipe them dry with a cloth. Other potential issues include a cracked or broken electrode (indicated by sparks at the crack), a loose or disconnected wire (reconnect it or replace the electrode/wire assembly), a wire shorting between the ignitor and electrode (replace the ignitor wire/electrode assembly), or a bad ignitor (replace the ignitor).

Why is there a sudden drop in gas flow on my Char-Broil Grill?
    • D
      Deanna PerezAug 18, 2025
A sudden drop in gas flow or low flame on your Char-Broil grill can be caused by two main issues: either you're out of gas (check the LP tank), or the excess flow valve has tripped. If the excess flow valve tripped, turn off the knobs, wait 30 seconds, and light the grill. If the flames are still low, turn off the knobs and LP tank valve, disconnect the regulator, reconnect it, perform a leak test, turn on the LP tank valve, wait 30 seconds, and then light the grill.

What to do if Char-Broil Grill burners won't light with a match?
    • M
      mfernandezAug 22, 2025
If the burners on your Char-Broil grill won't light with a match, there could be several reasons. First, check if the LP tank is empty, and if not, refer to "Sudden drop in gas flow". Ensure the coupling nut and regulator are fully connected by tightening the coupling nut about one-half to three-quarters of an additional turn until it stops, tightening by hand only, without tools. Obstructions in the gas flow can also be a cause, so clear the burner tubes. Another possibility is the disengagement of the burner to the valve, so reengage the burner and valve. Finally, check the assembly instructions to ensure the grill is assembled correctly.

Why doesn’t one burner light off the other burners on my Char-Broil Grill?
    • A
      Alexander HansonAug 25, 2025
If one burner on your Char-Broil grill doesn’t light off the other burners, it's likely due to grease or food particles in the slot underneath the lip on the carry-over tube. Clean the carry-over tubes with a wire brush to resolve this issue.

What causes flare-ups on my Char-Broil Grill?
    • E
      Ernest ClementsAug 28, 2025
Flare-ups on your Char-Broil Grill can occur due to grease buildup (clean the grill), excessive fat in the meat (trim the fat before grilling), or excessive cooking temperature (adjust the temperature accordingly by lowering it).

Why do the flames blow out on my Char-Broil Grill?
    • D
      dorothypenaAug 31, 2025
Flames blowing out on your Char-Broil Grill can be attributed to high or gusting winds (turn the front of the grill to face the wind or increase flame height), low LP gas (refill the LP tank), or a tripped excess flow valve (refer to "Sudden drop in gas flow").

How to stop a persistent grease fire in my Char-Broil Grill?
    • B
      Brenda WarrenSep 4, 2025
A persistent grease fire on your Char-Broil Grill, which can damage steel panels and aluminum castings, is often caused by grease trapped by food buildup around the burner system. To resolve this, turn the knobs to OFF, turn the gas off at the LP tank, leave the lid in position, and let the fire burn out. After the grill cools, remove and clean all parts, and replace the grease can.

What causes flashback in my Char-Broil Grill burner tubes?
    • J
      Joy VaughnSep 7, 2025
Flashback, or fire in the burner tubes of your Char-Broil Grill, occurs when the burner and/or burner tubes are blocked. To resolve this, turn the knobs to OFF and clean the burner and/or burner tubes.

Why am I unable to fill my Char-Broil Grill LP tank?
    • Q
      qmccoySep 12, 2025
If you are unable to fill your LP tank, it may be because some dealers have older fill nozzles with worn threads. These worn nozzles might not have enough "bite" to engage the valve. Try a second LP dealer.
