Line Card Memory
Caution The user serviceability of memory modules varies from line card to line card. Read this section carefully
before attempting to remove or install any line card memory module.
This section contains the following procedures:
Removing a DIMM
Installing a DIMM
Removing a SODIMM
Installing a SODIMM
Checking the Installation of Line Card Memory
Refer to Figure 18, Figure 19 and Figure 20 for the location of the memory on your line card.
Removing a DIMM
To remove a DIMM from a line card, follow these steps:
Step 1 Attach an ESD-preventive wrist or ankle strap and follow its instructions for use.
Step 2 Place the line card on an antistatic mat so that the faceplate is nearest to you.
Step 3 Locate the DIMM sockets on the line card.
Note Some line cards use DIMM sockets equipped with dual release levers, as shown in Figure 21;
other line cards use DIMM sockets equipped with a single release lever, as shown in Figure 22.
Both DIMM sockets operate in the same general way.
