Selecting [LOAD SETTINGS] will bring up a menu with a list of the programs available
on the drive. The user may navigate through the list and use the [SHOW SETTINGS]
button to view the settings of the program. Settings may also be printed from this
screen. Use [UP SELECT] or [DOWN SELECT] to highlight the desired program. Upon
pressing [EXIT] a confirmation screen will appear: LOAD SETTINGS? Pressing the [YES]
key will load the program.
Programs can be deleted from the LOAD SETTINGS screen. (User must be Level 4 if
security is enabled.) Simply move the highlight to the desired program and press
the [DELETE] key. Press [DELETE] again to confirm and return to the LOAD SETTINGS
menu screen.
When finished using the USB jump drive, remove it and the main screen will appear.
After a program has been loaded into the unit and the USB drive is removed, the
program can be saved to the internal memory of the counter by using the [SAVE
SETTINGS] function as described in the previous section.
2.2.6 Using the clone feature via USB
The clone feature enables the user to copy all settings including user names and
passwords, security settings, ID’s, programs, alarms and sample settings from one
unit to another. The unit ID and Ethernet address will not be copied. This facilitates
the process of deploying multiple units which need to share the same setup
throughout a facility. Or, if a unit is loaned out, the clone feature can be used to set
the unit to a known state for its intended use.
To use the clone feature via USB, insert the jump drive into the USB port. The USB
menu will appear. In addition to the menu options along the bottom, one
configuration item, [ENCRYPT USERS] is available.
When the background color of that button is green, the User Names and Passwords
will be transferred encrypted to keep those things secret. When the background
color of the button is yellow, the User Names and Passwords will be transferred in
Plain Text to the USB flash drive. It is then possible for someone to learn the
Passwords for the User Names by reading the contents of the flash drive on a
computer.
Touch the [ENCRYPT USERS] button to switch its setting.
This button is available on all USB-equipped particle counters with firmware revision
3.00 or later. The Clone feature without encryption is compatible with earlier
releases (V2.00 and later).
Selecting [CLONE TO USB] will bring up a menu with the name of the file
[PROGRAMS.ALL]. Each jump drive is restricted to hold only one clone file. Press [SAVE]
or [CANCEL]. A progress bar will appear as the operation is completed.
Selecting [CLONE FROM USB] will bring up a menu with the name of the file
[PROGRAMS.ALL]. Press [LOAD] or [CANCEL]. A progress bar will appear as the operation
is completed.
When finished using the USB jump drive, remove it and the main screen will appear.
If the user clones the settings between units having different flow rates, the units
will automatically calculate the correct time needed for the selected sample
volumes. Therefore, the correct sample volumes are cloned even between units
having different flow rates.
