Convenient
use of
"CAF"
When
shooting on autofocus with the
distance
ring
set
to
"-",
th€ AF
shooting
range is narrower
when
you
take
pictures
with
a
telephoto lens. In this
case, use
"CAF"
and shoot as described
below.
Thus, the AF
shooting
range
can be
moved,
making it
convenient
for
continuous
shooting of
playing
children
or sports scenes.

Set
the
camera's focusing mode to
"CAF".

Aim the horizontal
split-image
spot
in the viewfinder

at the
subjects
you
want to focus,
and
press
the
shutter
release
halfway.

Turn the
distance ring
and
focus the lens
beforehand

so
that the
back
focusing
scale comes
in
the center
of
the underside
bar.
After that,
focusing is
effected
on autofocus even if the
subject
moves
back and forth.

Take
your picture
by depressing
the
shutter
release

allthe way.

When the
distance of the subject
is farther than
the
distance set
with the lens'
distance
ring, the
subject is
beyond
the working range
of
the autofocus.
When
you
turn the distance ring to the farther-distance
side
and
shift
the AF working range,
you
can
take
pictures
on
autofocus.
